The built is moving on….
Landlocked here in Switzerland the built of the Pegasus 50 Hull #3 is moving on. The deck is almost ready for the marriage with the hull. This will probably take place within the next 2 weeks. Most of the fittings are mounted and the hatches are in already. The fit out of the hull is also making progress. The B&G equipment is mounted the whole cZone units are also in place. Cabling is moving on. We established a very good and close communication between all the involved parties, at least once every week we have a video call where the state of the work and possible problems get discussed. This is especially for me totally important, because I’m extremely curious when it comes to boatbuilding and technique))) Last week the twin engines from OceanVolt arrived from Finnland with all the Victron equipment! To give you a short overview what’s in the boat here a quick description:
Main CPU B&G H5000 Hercules
Two (redundant) autopilot drive units
Two (redundant) B&G autopilot computers
Two (redundant) MHU (mast head units / wind vanes)
A full cZone system for all the electric consumers as well as for the lights and stuff
A rugged NUC fanless computer with a touch screen for to run the Expedition software
A 42 TB NAS from Synology as a media (Music / Movies / Audible) server
An Iridium Certus (Thales) dome for the satellite connectivity
All the systems are designed by Gernot from Turner Marine Electrics and Electronics, he was already in charge when we upgraded the former Lifgun to a race standard.
This setup is based on my experience from the last years of sailing and I’m looking really forward to test out her as soon as possible. I pray for an ease of the pandemic situation so that we can do some cool trips during the next summer and fall. For now, I’m very happy with the progress and the collaboration with Miha and Marko (the owners of Pegasus) and I’ll try not to become too much a land lubber…
